Paul Murray

Vice Principal - Safeguarding

Paul has been teaching for twenty years in a number of schools across Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. He is passionate about the delivery of a broad and well balanced curriculum, as well as the use of assessment data to ensure that all students receive the support they need in order to achieve excellent outcomes. He is an experienced associate of the AQA and Edexcel exam boards and is listed as an Ofqual Expert Advisor and holds an NPQH qualification.

Paul studied for his degree in Chemistry at the University of Manchester before spending three years working in IT Infrastructure in schools across North East Manchester. After later training to be a teacher, Paul worked in schools across Manchester, Oldham, Calderdale and Bradford mostly teaching and leading Science.

After starting out as a Science Teacher, Paul took up a role leading KS4 Science at a school in Oldham before moving to spend one year in an IT-based research role at a city learning centre. From there he moved back to teaching and leading Science, this time in Calderdale where he went on to become a Pastoral Leader, then Leader of Vocational Education, and then Head of Business, Computer Science and Health & Social Care. While working in Calderdale, Paul supported his school to its first ever 'Good' Ofsted judgement and helped students to achieve exam results which were formally recognized in the Annual Parliamentary Review.

Having completed a degree in Physics Education along the way, Paul moved to what was Samuel Lister Academy and supported the transition to what is now Dixons Cottingley Academy. From a school with poor outcomes and in special measures Paul worked with the staff at DCO to transform outcomes to a Progress 8 score of +0.42 and recognition from Ofsted that DCO is now a 'Good' school. Paul joined Dixons McMillan as Vice Principal in January 2024.
