Class of 2026 (Y11) Geographers explore Heaton Woods
Posted 29th September 2023
As part of studying GCSE Geography at Dixons McMillan, students go on a number of field trips in to study the world around them.
This morning, supported as ever by our Head of Geography: Mr Conboy, students took part in conducting fieldwork relating to Human Geography. This involved a number of different geographical techniques in order to work out key data such as population and demographics. Students certainly saw the Broadway centre in a different light!
In the afternoon, students then visited Heaton Woods to this time conduct fieldwork relating to Physical Geography. They investigated the course of the Red Beck which flows through the woods, taking a host of measurements to create further data.
Students (and Mr Conboy!) are looking forward to their final fieldwork visit in October to Flamborough Head in East Yorkshire, where they will investigate the impact of coastal erosion.
